A sculptural choker in recycled sterling silver, delicately resembling the shape of barbed wire, inspired by the Las Gorras Blancas movement, an 1880’s political protest in response to property theft from western squatters, as New Mexico became a state. Titled 'Don't Fence Me In', this piece serves as a meaningful reminder for us all, while tapping into the designer's personal effort for autonomy and independence as an Indigenous woman, the beauty and form of barbed wire, and the complex symbolism behind it.
